Dibrugarh, Mar 11: A 9mm bullet was discovered in passenger Sambhu Dayal Sharma’s bag during a security check at Dibrugarh Airport on Monday evening.
According to reports, Sharma was heading to Rajasthan and claimed he was unaware of the bullet’s presence.
The passenger, identified as Sambhu Dayal, was scheduled to board an IndiGo flight to Rajasthan when security personnel detected the ammunition during screening.
Dayal, who has been residing in Longding, Arunachal Pradesh, for several years due to his business activities, was immediately stopped by airport authorities.
Speaking to reporters, Dayal stated that he had no knowledge of how the bullet ended up in his bag.
He also alleged that insurgent groups in Arunachal Pradesh had repeatedly demanded money from him over time.
Meanwhile, Mohanbari police took him into custody for interrogation.
An investigation has been launched to determine the origin of the bullet and assess any potential security threats.
