Jowai, April 14: Police personnel from the East Jaintia Hills District Executive Force (EJH DEF) intercepted a motorcycle under suspicious circumstances on Sunday at Nongsning, leading to a major drug bust.

The accused, identified as Bishal Riang (23), son of Ganga Jay Riang and a resident of Paloipunji T.E. in Cachar district of Assam, was stopped while riding a Bajaj Dominar 400 bearing registration number AS 11 X 2819. Upon inspection, police discovered two backpacks containing 10 packets of suspected contraband.

A preliminary test confirmed the substance to be cannabis (ganja), with a total estimated weight of 10 kilograms.

The police seized both the narcotics and the motorcycle.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
