Shillong, June 15: In a incident captured on video, two individuals were seen injecting themselves with what appears to be drugs in Polo, Shillong.
The visual shared by a concern citizen indicate the growing use of drugs.
Though effort are being made to curb drug menace, incidents like this only goes to point out that drugs are easily accessible and available in Shillong.
The State Government has launched the Drug Reduction Elimination & Action Mission (DREAM) in June 2023, aiming to create a “Drug Free Meghalaya” through a comprehensive and coordinated strategy involving both state and local community efforts to eradicate substance use.
In response to the ongoing crisis, over 60 Dorbar Shnongs of greater Shillong have recently formed Village Defence Parties (VDPs) to assist the government in tackling the drug issue.
