Early warning sirens installed for Ganol Dam water release; public urged to stay away from riverbanks

With the monsoon season fast approaching, the Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) has initiated several measures to provide early warnings to public when the dam gates are opened, especially during sudden releases triggered by heavy rainfall. Among these is the installation of two high-range sirens to alert residents about water releases from the Ganol Hydro Dam in West Garo Hills district.
