The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) on Saturday said it is not ready to work with other political parties because of its 'pro-Hynniewtrep agendas'.
In a major breakthrough after weeks of tension due to the row over the worship in Mawjynbuien cave in Mawsynrem, the key stakeholders including the Dorbar Shnong of Mawsynrem and the Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) have announced that the issue has been resolved and that it was majorly due to a misunderstanding. At the same time, a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) was also agreed upon that the visitors need to abide by.
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawsynram village has asserted that it will not succumb to any pressure and will continue to strictly prohibit worship inside the Mawjymbuin cave, as it is a designated tourist spot.
Shillong, Jan 3: While the rest of the world welcomed the New Year, busy making resolutions and plans, a family in Shillong was rushing to the hospital, fighting to save their son’s life after he was stabbed on January 1.
The injured victim, identified as 23-year-old Deva Kharkongor, was rushed to NEIGRIHMS in Shillong for treatment. He sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed with a scissor on the left side of his ribs and in his right eye at around 9:38 PM at the Ghumti parking lot of the Cantonment area in Shillong.
An FIR was filed by the victim’s mother, Mera Kharkongor, at the Jhalupara police outpost against the alleged attacked, Saidin Ali. However, the accused has not been arrested yet.
Sources revealed that the Cantonment area, particularly the Ghumti region, is notorious for anti-social activities.
Source also revealed that Saidin Ali has a history of criminal behaviour, with previous arrests for similar offenses, although he was released in those instances.
