Tura, April 23: All the catholic educational institutions across the Diocese of Tura in West Garo Hills will remain closed on April 25, as a mark of respect for the late Pope Francis, whose funeral is scheduled to be held on April 26 at 1:30 p.m. IST.
The directive was issued by Auxiliary Bishop Jose Chirackal, Bishop in-charge of Education, in an official circular addressed to all parish priests and principals of Catholic institutions under the Diocese. The circular also reminded them to conduct or continue with prayer services or condolence meetings if they haven’t already done so.
“As a mark of respect for the departed Leader of the Catholic Church, all the Catholic educational institutions in the diocese shall remain closed,” the letter stated.
Pope Francis, who led the Catholic Church since 2013, passed away on Monday at the age of 88 years. His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the world, including in India, where Catholic communities have been observing special services and prayers.
