Guwahati, Dec 18: CBI Director Praveen Sood reached Guwahati on Monday in connection with chargesheet filed by CBI in Manipur violence case.
According to sources, the CBI chief is likely to review the progress made by the SITs under DIG rank officers to investigate cases of violence in Manipur referred to it by the state government.
“The CBI is probing as many as six cases related to violence in Manipur. While five of the cases are related to alleged criminal conspiracy, one pertains to the general conspiracy behind the violence,” said a source.
The CBI director will fly to Imphal.
Earlier, on September 27, a special CBI team headed by Sood landed in Manipur to speed up the investigation into the alleged murder of two students. The team investigated the murder cases of Hijam Luwangbi Linthoinganbi and Philem Hemanjit.
On December 9, 2023, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against nine accused persons in a case related to the abduction and murder of a 55-year-old Naga woman in Manipur in July amid the ethnic conflict.
