Shillong, March 28: In a major move to enhance the performance and services of Anganwadi workers in Meghalaya, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has approved funding of over Rs. 6 crore for the purchase of 6,162 smartphones.
Each smartphone, valued at over Rs. 10,000, aims to empower Anganwadi workers with modern tools to better serve communities across the state.
Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh shared this update on Friday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting frontline workers in their critical roles. The smartphones are set to be distributed to Anganwadi workers by the end of April 2025, marking a milestone in the state’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and improve service delivery.
