Centre approves Rs 146.79 cr for New Shillong Township’s road projects

Shillong, Aug 10: The Centre has approved sanction of Rs 146.79 crore for construction of new four-lane road and conversion of existing two-lane road into four-lane with cycling tracks, utility ducts, footpaths etc at the New Shillong Township (NST).

The project has been sanctioned under Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) for the financial year 2022-23.

The PM-DevINE was announced as a new Central Sector Scheme in the Union Budget 2022-23.

The impact study of PMDevINE scheme is being taken up at an appropriate time.

Keeping in view the objectives of the scheme, eleven projects, amounting to Rs 1503.44 crore, including the seven projects announced in Budget 2022-23, have been selected for sanction in FY 2022-23.

Land is a State subject and the compensation for acquisition of land is dealt by the concerned State Governments as per the relevant Acts and Rules.
