Centre releases final scholarship funds, students to receive soon

Shillong, March 21: The Central Government has released the last instalment of scholarship amounting to ₹ 85.0779 Crore under the scheme ‘Umbrella Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students for the Academic Session 2023-2024’.

This was announced by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Friday.

Providing details of the scholarship disbursement, Sangma stated that a total of 76,755 students had applied for the scheme. The first installment of ₹42.32 crore was released on June 24, 2024, benefiting 17,364 students, while the second installment of ₹66.67 crore was disbursed on November 20, 2024, covering 32,064 students. With today’s final installment, all eligible students have now received their scholarship amounts.

The Chief Minister assured that the funds would reflect in students’ bank accounts within the next one to two days.

Conrad reiterates that, “the state government’s commitment to improving and expediting the scholarship process to provide timely financial support to deserving students”.
