Shillong, April 7: Chad Sukra is the annual festival of the Jaiñtia people to thank Mother Earth and nature for the love bestowed on people followed by a ritual before the sowing season. This year the festival was celebrated on the 6th and 7th of April by Seiñraij Jowai.
This year the Pnar community observed the festival with a theater evening. The Drama entitled “Dei Wym Yohsa” was performed at the Community Hall of Tpeppale, Jowai on Saturday.
Day two of the event was marked by cultural programme held at Myngkoi Pyrdi, Loompyrdi Iongpiah where Troupes from various localities and Seiñraijs performed various traditional dances.
Cultural Programme was followed by a procession by men and women in traditional attire carried out at Iawmusiang, Jowai.
