Shillong, Aug 29: TMC legislator from Nongthymmai, Charles Pyngrope, on Thursday requested the state government to earmark Rs 5 crore for reconstruction of roads under his constituency since almost half of the cabinet lives there.
While raising a supplementary query in the Assembly, Pyngrope said, “Half of the cabinet lives there but the roads in Nongthymmai are very bad except the road from deputy chief minister to my house.”
Apart from deputy chief minister in-charge PWD, Prestone Tynsong, the MLA also named deputy chief minister in-charge urban affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister, AL Hek, Food Civil & Supplies Minister, Comingone Ymbon, PHE Minister, Marcuise N Marak, who are also staying or having a house in Nongthymmai constituency.
Stating that the list is long, Pyngrope said, “May I know if he (Tynsong) will earmark Rs 5 crore for reconstruction of the roads in Nongthymmai (constituency).”
In his reply, Tynsong said that the intention of the state government and the department as far as Shillong is concerned is to make sure that all roads are in good condition.
“Infact, I had already instructed the engineers to go for estimates as far as improvement of Shillong roads and estimates are prepared and once put up, we will take up and get necessary sanction, we will implement and do repairing work accordingly,” he said.
