Shillong, Aug 15: Ex-HNLC’s Self Styled General Secretary Cheristerfield Thangkhiew, who was killed during a raid by police on Friday in Shillong was laid to rest this afternoon.
Thousands of people from Shillong and its adjoining area took part in the funeral procession of the slain Ex-HNLC leader.

In 2018, Thangkhiew had surrendered before the authorities.
His house was raided on Friday at 3 am and in the process of raid, he was shot by the police. His house was raided in view of inputs that Thangkhiew was involved in the recent IED blasts at Shillong and Khliehriat.

His death has led to law and order situation in Shillong city.

Curfew has been imposed in Shillong and mobile internet has been shut for the next 48 hours in view of the law and order situation in four districts of the State – East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi.
