Cherry Blossom Festival: Tynsong urges all to be calm, says event timing to be revised for Sunday

Shillong, Oct 26: Amid the row over the Cherry Blossom Festival being held on a Sunday, Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday informed that the government has instructed the organisers to push the event to begin in the evening.

Stating that the government never did this intentionally, Tynsong said that it so happens that the event is a three day festival sometimes it would start on a Sunday or either end on a Sunday.

“Though we have asked organisers that for this time to start the event after 3 pm after church service…Appeal to everybody to be cool and calm and next year onwards we will calculate accordingly so that everyone is happy,” said Tynsong.

He also added that the sentiments of the people and stakeholders is understandable and appreciated but necessary adjustments are being worked out.
