Rongram, Nov 18: Chibra Agal in Rongram Block, West Garo Hills, played host to the second exhibition organized by the Chief Minister’s Youth Centre (CMYC) on November 16, 2024. This initiative, part of a larger network of 22 such centers established across Meghalaya, aims to empower local youth by fostering self-sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods.
The event drew around 100 attendees, cutting across various age groups, with the Headman of Chibragre Village gracing the occasion as the guest of honor. Praising the efforts of the Hon’ble Chief Minister in setting up these centers, the Headman emphasized the importance of utilizing such facilities for community and youth development.
The exhibition showcased eight diverse projects, including:
Carpentry
Crochet Work
Baking
Handcrafted Jewelry
Natural Soap Making
Macrame Bags
Tailoring
Resin Crafts (tea coasters, keychains)
A standout feature of the CMYC initiative is its Self-Designed Learning (SDL) approach. Unlike traditional training models, SDL empowers participants to independently cultivate their skills through online resources, peer-to-peer learning, and hands-on practice.
The exhibition served as both a celebration of the participants’ achievements and a platform for collaboration and growth. Visitors had the opportunity to witness the tangible outcomes of the learners’ hard work while exchanging ideas to further refine their skills.
