Tura, May 26: Chipakkore FC became the first team to reach the semifinal of the Tura Football League Super Division after defeating Maram FC 3-2 on Saturday at PA Sangma Stadium in Tura.
Coming into the match with confidence as table leaders, Chipakkore FC opened the scoring in the first minute with a goal from Akim R. Sangma. The dominance continued as in the 16th minute, Akim R. Sangma doubled the lead with his second goal.
Chipakkore FC was leading 2-0 at the end of the first half.
Returning for the second half, Chipakkore FC scored another goal in the 64th minute, courtesy of Bijay R. Marak. However, Maram FC players did not give up and gave all their energy. In the 69th minute, Tremarchwall Ch. Marak hit the back of the net, giving them the hope they needed. Maram FC continued to push, and despite Chipakkore’s defense, in the 88th minute, Bikalsing Marak from Maram FC pulled the game to a 3-2 scoreline.
Maram FC fought hard to score another goal, but time was not on their side as the referee ended the match after the normal 90 minutes.
With the win on Saturday, Chipakkore FC became the first semifinalist.
