Chipakkore FC wins Tura Youth League 2024 with 4-0 win over Rongkhon Sporting

Tura, Dec 18: The 2024-25 Tura Youth League concluded with an impressive 4-0 victory for Chipakkore FC over Rongkhon Sporting on Wednesday at the Chandmari Football Turf in Tura.

Organized by the District Football Association (DFA), the tournament was designed to engage young talent under the age of 18, with the primary goal of identifying skilled players who could represent West Garo Hills in future competitions, including the Meghalaya Games 2025.

The league featured eight teams from across the district, with each match lasting 70 minutes, including a 10-minute halftime break. The competition saw a high level of enthusiasm and energy from the young players, who demonstrated their potential and passion for the game.

Chipakkore FC dominated the final, controlling possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Rongkhon Sporting struggled to convert their chances, ultimately falling short in the decisive match. The goals came early and often for Chipakkore FC, with Vincent Nirik N Sangma opening the scoring in the 9th minute. Gamseng A Sangma added a second in the 24th minute, before Larsingbirth B Marak made it 3-0 in the 48th minute. Sangma sealed the win with his second goal in the 54th minute.

For their efforts, Chipakkore FC were awarded the champions’ trophy and a cash prize of ₹70,000. Rongkhon Sporting, despite the defeat, received the runners-up trophy and ₹50,000.

In individual awards, the Best Player honor went to Amdoan K Sangma of Chipakkore FC, while Sahilbirth R Marak of Danakgre YSCA was named Best Goalkeeper. Larsingbirth B Marak of Chipakkore FC claimed the Top Scorer award.

The finale was attended by Rupankar K Marak, DFO for East & West Garo Hills, and Saljagring M Marak, District Sports Officer, along with members and officials from the District Football Association.
