Guwahati, Mar 6: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after election Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be summoned by Assam CID.
Speaking to media persons in Bongaigaon, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “After election Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be summoned by CID because during ‘Bharat Jado Nyay Yatra’ in Assam, the Congress workers clashed with policemen,”.
“If anyone takes law into their hand, summoned will be issued. After election Rahul Gandhi will be stand in Assam court because summoned will be issued,” Sarma said.
On Monday, the Assam police issued summons to Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar and another party leader for questioning in connection with the case.
A FIR in the case mentioned the names of Rahul Gandhi, along with other senior Congress leaders such as KC Venugopal, Jitendra Singh, Jairam Ramesh, Srinivas BV, Kanhaiya Kumar, Gaurav Gogoi, Bhupen Kumar Borah, and Debabrata Saikia.
On January 23, Congress workers in the presence of Gandhi and orther leaders broke police barricades, which were put up after chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma threatened to file an FIR if the Yatra attempted to enter the main Guwahati city.
