Nongpoh, May 6: In an unfortunate incident, two classrooms of the Umsning Town Dorbar Secondary School were set on fire by unknown miscreants on the night of May 4, causing damage and disrupting the academic session of the institution.
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM when unidentified miscreants entered the school premises and set two classrooms ablaze, including the Class IX room.
Informing about the incident, the Chairman of the School Management Committee, Angelestar Khonghat, and Principal, B.L. Nonglait, has strongly condemned the unlawful act by miscreants who targeted the educational institute.

They were informed about the incident on May 4 at around 11:00 PM, following which they have filed an official FIR at Umsning Police station and the investigation is on to trace the culprits. “Such incidents have taken place before but since the matter was minor, the school authorities have kept quiet. But this is serious attack on our school and we will not be silent,” they said.
An official of the school said the CCTV camera installed at the front of the school did not record any footage of the miscreants, leading to suspensions that they had entered the school through the back side
Following the incident, the school has raised concerns as it has affected its academic session and the school has announced suspension of classes until the repairing of the classrooms is completed.
