Nongpoh, Oct 29 : In just a few months, Meghalaya will celebrate its fifty years of statehood, and to bring the concept together of both fitness and cleanliness, The Deputy Commissioner Ri-Bhoi in Collaboration with the District Sports Officer, Ri-Bhoi, and Nongpoh Town Committee organized a Plogging Run on October 29 as part of ”Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
The Programme was participated by enthusiasts youths from the district. During the event, Deputy Commissioner Ri-Bhoi District, RM Kurbah, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, BJ Kharshandi among other officers were present.The latest fitness craze ‘plogging’ is catching up in India with the government officially joining the trend by organising as part of the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29.
Though a relatively new concept in India, plog runs have been organized by individual social groups in different cities, however, with the government’s initiative to organize a nationwide which has garnered much interest from various sections.
