Shillong, June 6: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday planted a sapling at SICPAC, Shillong with school students as part of the State’s World Environment Day celebrations.
Under Mission LIFE initiative, Meghalaya is planting 5 Lakh saplings with active participation from students, community members and departments.
As a part of fun exercise, some seed balls were also thrown around SICPAC together with students.
CM Conrad took to his social media handles to shares pictures from the event and wrote, “Today we also threw some seed balls around SICPAC together with students. A fun exercise as we teach our children to plant seeds for a more environment-conscious and Green Meghalaya. A total of 3.6 Million seed balls will be distributed across the state encouraging students, schools & communities to participate in the drive to create green spaces across Meghalaya.”

CM Conrad Sangma also inaugurated the nature interpretation centre at Phan Nonglait Park. This park showcases and documents the rich flora and fauna of Meghalaya.
