Tura, April 29: A coal exporter from Tripura who was stationed in Gasuapara South Garo Hills exporting point has died of Covid-19 on Thursday.
The victim Dhaneswar Debbarma aged 35 entered Gasuapara via Bajengdoba on April 15th night when there was no testing being done by health and district officials of North Garo Hills. He started developing symptoms on 23rd and when his condition became serious he was rushed to the nearest hospital- Dalu Community Health Centre of West Garo Hills but died on the way inside the auto-rickshaw.
A Covid test on the body turned out to be positive.
This incident has once again revealed carelessness on the part of authorities to ensure testing of all returnees allowed a carrier to spread the virus undetected. Two other people living in his camp location have also tested positive, today.
