Must read

Tura, June 2: The outer wall of the P A Sangma stadium in Tura that collapsed on Saturday night was a temporary structure erected last year to remove encroachments, says West Garo Hills Deputy commissioner Jagdish Chelani.

A portion of the outer boundary wall near the sewage treatment plant and the adjoining indoor hall number 2 gave way shortly after midnight on Saturday during a thunderstorm.

“There is no damage to the stadium and we are awaiting a full report on the incident. The wall that collapsed was a temporary structure made last year to remove illegal settlers and prevent any further encroachments into government land,” said DC Chelani.

He said that multiple sets of projects are currently under construction when the mishap occurred due to the rains.
