Agartala, April 29: The Tripura Pradesh Congress, along with its affiliated wings, staged a ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ (Save Constitution) rally in Agartala on Tuesday, echoing the Congress party’s nationwide campaign to safeguard constitutional values and democratic principles.
The rally began from the Agartala Press Club, with party leaders and supporters marching through the city to raise public awareness. Participants voiced concerns over what they termed the systematic misuse of central agencies by the BJP-led government at the Centre.

Congress leaders alleged that Opposition figures were being frequently targeted using institutions such as the Income Tax department, Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Tensions briefly escalated when protestors attempted to move toward the Income Tax office but were stopped by security personnel. A minor scuffle broke out as some demonstrators tried to breach police barricades, though authorities quickly brought the situation under control.
Speaking at the rally, Congress leaders accused the central government of undermining democratic institutions and called on citizens to stand united in defense of the Constitution and the country’s democratic framework.
