Guwahati, Dec 22: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday stated a sit-in protest at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati demanding to ‘Save Democracy’.
The protest was organised on the issue of security lapses at parliament and the subsequent expulsion of 146 opposition Members of Parliament from both houses.
A protest rally is being organised all over the country by India Alliances on Friday.
During the protest, they raised slogans like Save Democracy, BJP government hai hai, BJP government go back, etc.
Speaking to reporters, APCC president Bhupen Borah said, “We have organised the protest against the autocratic behaviour of the BJP government. After the great security lapse in the parliament, we want a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, but instead of that, 146 opposition MPs were suspended from the parliament”.
“The BJP government has completely finished our country’s democracy and constitution. They are trying to stop our voices, so we organised the protest against the autocratic behaviour of the Modi government,” said Borah.
Many of the Congress workers, including senior leaders, attended the protest.
