Delivering his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said that with the New Education Policy (NEP) the two-day workshop is a move in the right direction. He added that the implementation of the New Education Policy requires time, effort and a lot of investment in different aspects.
“A just transition is a concept that is precisely meant for these kinds of processes where you can’t expect things to happen in a day but there are a few things that we all need to prioritize as a government and as a society to make better, productive citizens and society and that should drive us to move forward in spite of the changes,” he said.
He further stated that the Education Policy stresses on research, cognitive and critical thinking, vocational training, innovation, entrepreneurship sports and extra curricular activities, which is a paradigm shift of how education has been in the past and said that all these aspects in the new Education Policy are important. He said that the two-day workshop will help in realizing the visons and aims of new NEP and prepare a road map not only for Shillong College but other colleges also in realizing the goals and principles of the NEP.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new building block, the college auditorium and the lift that are all partially funded by RUSA.
