Conrad meets Khandu, discusses development of NE region

Guwahati, July 21: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Sunday visited Arunachal Pradesh to strengthen ties and ensure cohesive party dynamics in the region.

During his two-day visit to Itanagar, CM Sangma engaged in several rounds of discussions with the party MLAs. The meetings focused on reinforcing the party’s strategies and aligning on key policy issues. Sangma emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in driving the party’s agenda forward.

“We had very productive discussions,” Sangma said. “The dedication and enthusiasm of our MLAs are commendable. Our goal is to strengthen the party from within and ensure that we are effectively addressing the needs of our people.”

Sangma was on a two-day visit to Itanagar to attend a felicitation programme of newly-elected five NPP MLAs in the recently-concluded assembly elections.

He also met with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. This was to reiterate NPP’s support for Khandu’s led BJP government and discuss development in the region. “In the spirit of coalition, the NPP stands with Chief Minister Khandu’s government,” Sangma affirmed. “Together, we can achieve greater progress and prosperity for our states.”

Both the Chief Minister discussed a slew of issues regarding cooperation and collaboration for fostering growth and development in the Northeast.

Later taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sangma wrote: “Called on Hon’ble Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu ji during my visit to Itanagar today. Had the privilege to discuss on issues concerning cooperation and collaboration for fostering growth and development in Northeast region.”

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu reciprocated Sangma’s gesture. He write on X, “Shri Sangma Ji is a versatile personality and visionary. He is deeply connected to the grassroots and is working very hard for the all-round, inclusive development of the State.”
