Shillong, April 27: Following the Meghalaya government’s well performance in utilising the funds for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Renikton Tongkhar on Tuesday informed that an extra incentive of Rs 10 crore was given to the state.
A review meeting to discuss the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission was carried out and was chaired by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma.

Following the meeting, Tongkhar informed that the department has set a target for the year 2021-22, to complete a total number of households of 3,38,903 to connect Jal Jeevan Mission.
According to Tongkhar, till April 25, 2021, a total of 97,000 households have been connected with JJM. “We have a balance of 2,41,903, number of households which are to be connected within this year,” said Tongkhar.
So far the state has received Rs 208.74 crores for the scheme while the State with its own resources had contributed Rs 20.44.
