Tura, May 1: With much of the country, particularly the major cities and metros, struggling to obtain oxygen for patients fighting the Covid-19 infection, the Meghalaya government has gone on a war footing to ensure there is no shortage of this crucial element in the eventuality of a major health scenario.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has cleared the sanctioning of a 20 KL Cryogenic Oxygen Tank with refilling facility that will be set up at Jengjal town, approximately 30 km from Tura to ensure speedy supply of oxygen for hospitals that require them in case of any emergency. The only airport in Garo Hills- Baljek airport, is also located in Jengjal and could play a decisive role in case there is the need for an airlift of the crucial supply to locations in urgent need of it to save lives.

Power Minister James K Sangma has hailed the decision of the chief minister to install the oxygen tanker at Jengjal given that it is located at a crucial trijunction connecting Tura, Williamnagar, Dadenggre and the rest of the region.
