Shillong, Dec 19: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma virtually launched the 10-bed ICU project in 12 district hospitals and two tele-ICU hubs in Meghalaya on Tuesday.
Taking to social media, Chief Minister Conrad said that considering Meghalaya’s challenging terrain, the provision of critical care has been a major challenge, especially in rural areas, causing great difficulty for the people. The Chief Minister added that the 10 Bed ICU Project and Tele ICU Hubs are wonderful initiatives that will utilise cloud technology to connect specialists to ICU wards in districts.
“This technology and data-driven initiative is a welcome step in transforming healthcare in Meghalaya,” he said.
Also, the Chief Minister informed that the project encompasses the provision of ICU facilities in district hospitals and an online telehealth platform that connects ICU patients and their local healthcare providers with medical specialists, as well as providing real-time data that will immensely aid healthcare providers on the ground to give patients the necessary medical attention.
The initiative was donated by the eGov Foundation and Karuna Trust, informed CM, as it will make a big difference in the lives of the people of Meghalaya, he added.
