CoRP supports VPP MLA’s Call to Revamp Reservation Policy

Must read

Nongpoh, April 01: The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP), a pressure group based in Ri Bhoi District, has expressed its support for the VPP MLA from Nongkrem, who has raised concerns about the roster system of reservation policy in Meghalaya. The MLA had threatened to protest after the issue was not allowed to be discussed in the assembly during the recent budget session.

According to Pateng Myrsing, the working president of CoRP, the organization is firmly against the implementation of the roster system in Meghalaya. Myrsing stated that if the policy is enforced, it could create an imbalance in employment opportunities between the Khasi-Jaintia and Garo communities, with the latter being less populated and therefore receiving fewer benefits.

Myrsing also called for a revamp of the reservation policy and roster system to ensure equal treatment and opportunities for all communities in the state. He criticized pressure groups from Garo Hills for opposing the issue raised by the Nongkrem MLA and highlighted that employment opportunities should be equally accessible to all communities in Meghalaya.
