Shillong, June 5: The graph for COVID-19 recoveries in Meghalaya continues to grow steadily as the state recorded 801 recoveries in the last 24 hours. This has brought the active cases to under 6000 with the active cases currently standing at 5,797.
East Khasi Hills registered maximum recoveries with 309 people successfully defeating the corona virus, followed by Ri-Bhoi – 118, West Garo Hills – 129, West Jaintia Hills – 66, South West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills recorded 33 recoveries each, North Garo Hills – 30, East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills – 26 each, South West Garo Hills – 24, and South Garo Hills – 07.
According to a bulletin from the Health Department on Saturday, the state detected 497 new cases while there were 9 fresh deaths in the last 24 hours. This has taken the total number of cases in the state so far to 38,230 of which have 31,781 have recovered while 652 have lost their lives.
The state’s fatality rate stands at 1.71%.
The most deaths have occurs in East Khasi Hills with 515 cases, while Ri Bhoi has had 17 deaths, West Khasi Hills – 6 and South West Khasi Hills – 3, taking the total deaths in Khasi Hills to 541. Jaintia Hills has recorded total of 61 fatalities with East Jaintia Hills recording 11 deaths and West Jaintia Hills having 50 fatalities.
The total number of deaths in Garo Hills has reached the mark of 50 with West Garo Hills alone accounting for 32 causalities, South West Garo Hills – 7, North Garo Hills – 5, South Garo Hills – 4 and East Garo Hills – 2 deaths.
Vaccination Status
Meghalaya has so far administered a total of 4,76,616 vaccines of which 4,02,154 have been administered as 1st dose and 74,462 as 2nd dose.
The focus of the state government has been to vaccinate the health workers and frontline workers on a priority basis. So far, 30,001 health care workers have been given 1st dose while 19,585 have received 2nd dose.
91,213 frontline workers have received the 1st dose and 26,558 given 2nd dose.
As for the general public, 2,80,714 people have been administered the 1st dose and 28,318 have been given 2nd dose.
