CPC condemns Pahalgam terror attack, urges swift action

Shillong, April 24: The Central Puja Committee (CPC), Meghalaya, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack near Pahalgam town in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and left several others injured. Describing the incident as “heinous” and “gruesome,” the CPC has called for immediate and decisive action against those responsible.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the CPC expressed deep sorrow over the targeted killing of civilians, many of whom were visiting the area for leisure and pilgrimage. “We are shocked and deeply pained by the senseless loss of innocent lives. Such acts of terror have no place in a civilised society,” the statement read.

The Committee urged the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to take strict and prompt action to bring the perpetrators to justice. “The Government of India must ensure that those behind this barbaric attack are identified and punished without delay,” it added.

The CPC also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and pray for the swift healing of the injured,” the statement concluded.

The attack has sparked nationwide outrage, with several civil society groups and religious organisations demanding stronger security measures and justice for the victims. The CPC’s statement adds to the growing call for urgent action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
