Shillong, Oct 4: The Central Puja Committee (CPC) organised the 28th Annual Drum Beat competition on Monday.

Nearly 24 drum beaters (Dhakies) both in the individual section and group section participated in the event held at Rilbong Durga Puja Pandal. This time, for the first time in history of the State, female Dhakies also participated in the competition.

BJP MLA AL Hek along with CPC president Naba Bhattacharjee and others were part of the event.

Greeting the crowd, CPC President Naba Bhattacharjee said that after two years they are once again able to gather and celebrate this Drum Beat competition.

He also mentioned that the drum beaters of different Durga Puja Pandal come together to participate in a way to encourage togetherness and beat the drums.

Bhattacharjee also informed that the preparation is in full swing for Maha Navami and urged the devotees to come out and participate.
