Tura, March 24: The Constitutional Rights Forum (CRF), Tikkrikilla Regional Unit, has urged authorities to address the urgent need for a new fire vehicle and modern rescue equipment in Tikkrikilla, citing the poor condition of the existing firefighting resources.
In a letter to the Superintendent of Police, Tura District Police, the CRF highlighted that the deplorable state of the current fire vehicle is hindering emergency response efforts and poses a serious safety risk to both fire personnel and local communities. The forum emphasized the importance of a reliable and well-equipped fire truck to ensure efficient rescue operations.

Beyond the vehicle, the CRF also stressed the need for modern rescue equipment, including tools for vehicle extrications, firefighting, and medical emergencies. According to the forum, upgrading these resources will enhance emergency response capabilities and help save lives.
The CRF has appealed to authorities for immediate action, urging them to equip Tikkrikilla with the necessary firefighting resources. Copies of the request have been sent to the Meghalaya Home Minister, Director General of Police in Shillong, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Fire and Emergency Service in Tikkrikilla, and the media.
