Tura, Feb 2: The 120 Battalion of CRPF in Tura on Wednesday held the inauguration ceremony of its completed works at Govt boys higher secondary school, chandmari, Tura. Pramod Kumar Singh, Commandant 120 BN CRPF, addressed the gathering comprising of teachers and students of the school and informed about various projects completed by his team in various places in the Garo hills. Besides repair and renovation of the basketball court, separate set of toilets for boys and girls separately were handed over to the school authorities.The commandant also emphasised upon the activities his team has accomplished in recent past with overwhelming participation by the local people including plantation drives, cleanliness drives, Fit India freedom Run, Khelo lndia campaign, distribution of facemasks, sanitizers and food packets during COVlD-19 Pandemic, campaign against single use plastic, conservation of water resources, assistance given under recruitment awareness drive etc.
The chief guest was felicitated by Senjie A. Sangma, the principal, with a mango sapling and a cultural programme was organised in his honour. The teachers and students beautifully displayed the rich traditions and culture of Garo hills through ‘Wangala dance’ of harvest festival, Group dance on GARO folk song “Ang’ atchiram a•songtang”( My motherland) and group dances on local themes.
Accordingly, a friendly exhibition match was organised between teams of school children which witnessed a very exciting conclusion with tough competition.
