CSWO urge Govt to streamline transport for the Public

Must read

Shillong, Feb 11: With the local commercial taxis off the road for over a week, the CSWO has urged the government to streamline the transport so that the public are not at the receiving end.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the CSWO said that they were informed that Red bus, funded through JNNURM, ADB, are exploiting the people as they alleged that a Red Bus (ML O1 7392) charged Rs 20 per passenger from Madanryting to Laitumkhrah.

“Transporters who signed an agreement with the government should not exploit the citizens and the Government has to ensure that people are not to suffer. Three days ago, we were told that a patient who was suffering and looking for medicine in Pynursla was stopped and checked by some who are not allowing them to travel in a private vehicle”, the CSWO mentioned.

The CSWO said that it is a clear violation of the fundamental right of a person and the government cannot promote such actions of criminal violence provoking threats and should ensure safety and security for the people of the State.

The local taxis have been agitating for over a week and passengers are complaining and have trouble going from one place to another.

People are seen rushing to board red buses in the absence of local taxis.
