Tura, Jan 30: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has announced that a sum of Rs 45 Crore has been sanctioned to repair the badly damaged 30 km road from 12th mile in West Garo Hills to Chokpot in South Garo Hills.

The chief minister, while attending the annual religious assembly or sobha of the St James Parish in Chokpot on Sunday, informed that money has already been allocated for the repair work which will probably begin sometime in March-April.
It’s a great blessing to be at the St. James Parish Dal’gipa Soba (congregation) at Chokpot. The teachings of Christ is a message not only of love but of humility. A reminder to each of us to serve with humility. pic.twitter.com/4EXljw34cM

He also said that a community college in Chokpot will be set up while the civil sub-division and block offices in Chokpot would be upgraded.

The chokpot road has been one of the most damaged roads in the Garo Hills region and years of neglect and poor engineering work on it has led it to further decay.
