Tura, March 3: The Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani, today launched the Garo version of the song ‘U Khaw’ for the ‘Food Security Campaign’ by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Govt of Meghalaya and spread awareness about the citizen’s food security rights and duties.

The department of supply held a press meet regarding the release of the music video ‘Merong’ by Enosh Sangma, the garo translated version of the song ‘U Khaw’ and marked the closing of the food security campaign.

The Deputy Commissioner also elaborated on the objective of the campaign and talked about the different schemes and benefits that the campaign highlights like One Nation One Ration Card, Aadhaar Seeding, Redressal System, the use of the Electronic Point of Sale and other mandates of the department.

In his address Deputy Commissioner, Jagdish Chelani said that the “Food Security Campaign majorly aims to ensure that the concept of One Nation One Ration Card. The idea behind the entire project is to sensitize the people about the food security rights. He further added that the beneficiaries need not be attached to the particular FPS shop. They can avail the benefits from the nearest FSP shop through validating the Aadhaar card with the ration card”.
