Guwahati, Oct 31: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has emphasized the government’s strong commitment to prioritizing the interests of the armed forces in the ongoing peace restoration efforts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Speaking to soldiers during the Deepawali celebrations at the 4 Corps Headquarters in Tezpur, Assam, he assured them that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure peace along the border while upholding the dignity and security of Indian troops.

In his address, Rajnath Singh credited recent progress with China—specifically agreements to ease tensions in certain areas of the LAC—to the unwavering discipline and courage of the armed forces. He underlined that these successes are the result of steadfast diplomatic and military efforts, which are deeply rooted in the commitment to safeguard the well-being of India’s soldiers.

“Your bravery and discipline have allowed us to reach this consensus,” he said, affirming that the process of peace restoration would continue with the same commitment and care. Shri Rajnath Singh reminded the troops of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s words: “We can change our friends, but not our neighbors,” highlighting India’s long-standing policy of fostering positive relations with neighboring countries, while also remaining prepared to ensure national security whenever required.

The Raksha Mantri also recognized the vital role of the armed forces in maintaining peace and stability across the nation’s borders, stating that India’s global stature is largely due to both the strong leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the steadfast readiness of the military. He urged troops to stay vigilant, underscoring the importance of adapting to the evolving global security landscape.
