Shillong, Jan 11: The education department is currently waiting for the Ministry to release the funds for the scholarship that is to be paid to about 67,000 beneficiaries.
About 163 crores is the amount that needs to be paid, and so far, 34 crores have been paid to the students.
Education Minister Rakkam Sangma said that the education department has already submitted the required documents, and all procedures have been followed.
“They have asked us to submit UCs, which we have done. The delay was because the ministry wanted certain documents about the UCs and procurement. They had asked us to use the funds that were already sent, which was the first installment that we had done,” stated Sangma.
Government Warns of Strict Actions
The state government cautioned on Wednesday against taking strict action against the trend of proxy teachers in the state.
Informing that in many government schools, the trend of proxy schools is happening, Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma said the state government will ensure this does not take place. He said the officers have been instructed to conduct regular inspections.
Acknowledging that there may be a few teachers who have lost interest in teaching, he said that for such teachers, it is better that they quit and take VRS and pursue where their interest lies.
He called upon the teachers in the state to shoulder the responsibility of imparting quality education to produce quality individuals and a quality future.
