Conrad K Sangma is the driver of the NPP-led MDA bus for 7 years

Shillong, Feb 11: National People’s Party (NPP) national general secretary and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday referred to the Voice of the People Party (VPP) president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit as a political leader with lack of experience.

Addressing election campaign at Biar and Rtiang to drum up support for party candidate from Raliang constituency Bison Roy Iano, Dhar said, “Without experience it would be difficult (to serve the people). Therefore, we need experienced leaders as it is very important. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is the driver of the NPP-led MDA bus for 7 years now. He is a well experienced (driver), we need not worry.”

“VPP president was the CEM of KHADC but within six-seven months, his EC collapsed. Because of Mukul Sangma and fear of disqualification, he also resigned as MDC. These have happened because he totally lacks the experience (as a political leader),” he stated while addressing a meeting at Rtiang even as he added “The VPP president has also made derogatory remarks related to incest. This also shows the lack of experience as a leader. The VPP president also only knows how to find fault with headmen and yet his party claimed that they love the jaidbynriew. How do you love the jaidbynriew when you cannot even trust the village functionaries?”

Alleging there is division within the VPP, Dhar said, “They have four MLAs and now one of them is no longer with the party. Prah has turned into Pra. It is only in the VPP that MDC tickets have been allotted without taking the local MLA into consideration. This also reflects that the leader of the party really lacks experience.”

Urging the people not to be misled by allegations that NPP and BJP are the same, the deputy CM said, “How can a book and a flower be the same. Please do not get swayed by such an attempt to mislead you. NPP has its own ideology and identity.”

He further claimed that Meghalaya is getting more development because the NPP-led state government is working with the Centre and said, “Unlike states like West Bengal where its CM always attacks the Prime Minister, is getting very little development.”

Dhar also appealed to the people to vote for Bison Roy Iano to ensure they get a double engine government after the ADC polls. “We want to ensure all round development,” he said.

He further assured to address the problems faced by the truck drivers and stated, “I humbly urge you to support the government.”

Earlier while addressing the meeting Biar, Dhar said that the VPP is claiming that only love for the jaidbynriew is enough and that development is not required.

“But according to me, if you love the jaidbynriew, you should find ways and means to bring development to the people and the state,” he stated.

He also alleged that most of the people had voted for VPP in the last MP election because of its election song.
