Dibrugarh, Feb 15: For the first time ever, the Tea City of Dibrugarh is transforming into a grand Bollywood set, as acclaimed director Amit Rai—known for Oh My God 2—begins filming his latest project, Senapati.
Bringing a fresh perspective to Assamese landscapes, Senapati revolves around a heartwarming tale of a child and a dog, with 90% of the cast and crew comprising local talents. Shooting is scheduled to take place across Dibrugarh and its picturesque surroundings from February 15 to March 15.
To ensure authenticity, selected artists have been undergoing intensive training since February 9. A technical team from Mumbai has already arrived, working alongside Hungarian cinematographer Maté Herbai, who serves as the Director of Photography. The project is being backed by the Assam State Film Corporation and the Assam Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Amit Rai’s decision to set his film in Dibrugarh stems from its breathtaking scenery and rich cultural heritage—where the Brahmaputra’s vast expanse meets the iconic Bogibeel Bridge and lush tea gardens. Assam’s traditional music and dance will also play a vital role in shaping the film’s visual and emotional depth.
