DIBRUGARH, July 8: Most of the roads in Dibrugarh have become a death trap for the residents after the roads were waterlogged for past nine days due to incessant rain.
The condition of the roads has become dangerous and untoward incident cannot be ruled out.
Due to waterlogging in all the 22-wards of Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC), for many days, the roads have developed cracks and big potholes.
“If immediate repair works are not take, the vehicles will get damaged and accidents can happen while crossing such roads,” said a resident.
Dibrugarh town was under water for nine days due to waterlogging and the water remain stagnant because the Dibrugarh Town Protection (DTP) drain could not flush rain water due to massive encroachment.
“After using high-power pumps the water of Dibrugarh town was flush out into river Brahmaputra. The water was resided but most of the roads have developed cracks and big potholes,” another resident said.
This time the residents of Dibrugarh have become agitated because the city was under water for nine days and the District administration has become a mute spectator.
“We will repair all the roads which were damaged due to waterlogging. We are inspecting the damaged roads,” said an official.
