Guwahati, April 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that digitisation of the health services has been underway in India to provide the best, quick and trouble-free medical treatment and various health services to the people of the country.

Addressing a big rally in eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh, the Prime Minister said that 16 new AIIMS and one medical college in each district in the country would be set up to give the best medical treatment to the people of the country.

After inaugurating the Dibrugarh Cancer Centre at the Assam Medical College and Hospital, Modi said that, “Policy has been changed so that students can be taught in the medical colleges in their local language and mother tongue.”

From Dibrugarh, the Prime Minister virtually inaugurated seven cancer hospitals and laid the foundation stones for seven more cancer hospitals across Assam.

The seven cancer hospitals that were inaugurated by the Prime Minister are in Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar and Darrang while foundation stones were laid at Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Nalbari, Nagaon and Tinsukia districts.

Modi said that cancer disease is a major problem in the northeastern region. With the set up of seven more cancer hospitals and laying of the foundation stones of seven more such hospitals, patients would get the best treatment at their districts itself.
