Shillong, Oct 27: As the festival of lights knocks on the door, it has arrived early in the hill city of Shillong. The BSF Frontier Meghalaya celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm by organizing a grand Diwali Mela at the BSF Mawpat Campus on Sunday.
The event was inaugurated by Simran Kaur Dhillon, BWWA President of Frontier HQ Meghalaya, who welcomed all participants to an evening filled with festivities and celebration.
BSF personnel and their families joined in with immense zeal, participating in various games, enjoying food stalls and watching cultural programs showcasing traditional performances. The Mela was designed to bring together the “Seema Praharies,” their families and children for memorable enjoyment during the festive season.
Adding to the festive spirit, the Mela featured an array of ethnic food stalls, games and a variety of entertainment activities. The highlight of the evening was the performances by the BSF Jazz and Brass Bands, whose music captivated the audience. Additionally, the ever-popular tug-of-war event was a crowd favourite, creating a lively atmosphere as everyone cheered on the participants.
The Border Security Force has also extended Diwali wishes to everyone and looks forward to more such gatherings that celebrate the spirit of service, unity and tradition.
