Dohling lays base for multiple projects in Lummawbah

Shillong, Oct 4: Soil & Water Conservation Minister Hamletson Dohling on Tuesday virtually launched the laying of foundation stone for construction of Lummawbah Government Lower Primary School and inauguration of various projects under Soil & Water Conservation implemented at Lummawbah, Upper Shillong at a programme organised by the Dorbar Shnong Lummawbah at Lummawbah Lad Mawbynna.

Speaking on the occasion, Dohling stated that as a resident of the village it is his responsibility to provide the best amenities for the development of the village as a whole. He lauded the executive committee of the village for their perseverance in following up the various schemes available, thus enabling the realisation of such schemes in Lummawbah.

He also expressed his happiness with the construction of the new building for the School, which was functioning in a dilapidated manner in previous years. He hoped that with the completion of the construction, the school will play an immense part in catering to the educational needs of the children of the village and nearby places. He also informed that the construction is 75% complete and was hopeful that the school will be fully functional by the next academic session.

The minister further expressed his pleasure in inaugurating the various projects implemented by the Soil & Water Conservation Department which directly relates to the accessibility of potable water to the village. He informed that more than 500 households in the village will benefit from the Jal Jeevan Mission which is providing water directly to households. He urged the public to co-operate and to work together with the government for the benefit of the village as a whole.

The various projects under Soil & Water Conservation include the RCC Dam Cum Water Distribution Chamber at Sangmein, Footbridge (Infrastructure Development) at Dongsohra, Lummawbah and RCC Dam Cum Water Conservation Structure at Lummawbah.

During the programme the Minister also handed over computers to Lummawbah Government Lower Primary School.
