Dora from Tura joins historic marathon in New York City

Shillong, Nov 3: Nothing is impossible if one dreams and works hard, a good example of this is a girl from Tura who participated in one of the oldest marathons in the world, the New York City Marathon, in the United States.

Doramontie Rangsa Nelleman took part in the New York Marathon, which is among the most prestigious races globally.

As in every year, in 2024, tens of thousands of athletes gathered on the streets of one of the world’s most iconic cities. The race kicked off on Staten Island on Sunday, with thousands of runners taking over the Big Apple.

The New York Marathon, which was first held in 1970, has gained popularity over the years and is one of the most awarded race events for winners. The New York City Marathon is known to partner with many non-profit organizations that provide charity bibs for runners.

The New York Road Runners award $100,000 (₹8,200,000) to the winners of the men’s and women’s divisions, with second-place $60,000 (₹4,920,000). The top six finishers all earn cash.

In this year’s edition, over 50,000 runners participated in the run, including a few popular celebrities.

Nev Schulman, the producer and host of MTV’s “Catfish,” is taking part in his eighth NYC Marathon.

Randall Park, known for ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat,” also participated.

Greg Rikaart, known for his long-term role in the soap operas “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless,” also participated in the event.
