Shillong, April 15: Lone Rajya Sabha MP and former NPP state president Dr WR Kharlukhi on Tuesday announced his decision to retire as MP.
“I believe it is time for me to retire. As a government servant, one is expected to retire at 58, and by the time the next term begins, I will be approaching 70. Therefore, I think it is time for younger individuals to take on this responsibility,” Dr. Kharlukhi stated when speaking to reporters.
Asked, Dr Kharlukhi said it is for the party to decide who will be nominated as the next Rajya Sabha MP candidate.

On the achievement of the MDA government during the past seven years, the NPP leader said that the government during the MDA-I had submitted their report before the election highlighting the achievements and what they are trying to do in terms of road, tourism etc.
