Khliehriat, March 1: The observance of 35th National Road Safety Week, 2024 in East Jaintia Hills District culminated on Friday at a programme held in the premises of the office of the District Transport Officer, Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District.
The programme was attended by District Transport Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, P. Laloo, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), H. Dkhar, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, R. Das, Enforcement Inspector, I. Dkhar, commercial vehicle owners & drivers association leaders, drivers, teachers, students, and many others.
Addressing the gathering, Motor Vehicles Inspector, H. Dkhar impressed upon drivers and students gathered at the programme on the importance of road safety even as he called upon them to carry the message and spread awareness on the issue to their family members in particular and community members in general.
Furthermore, Dkhar also elucidated on the connection of the theme of the observation of National Road Safety Week, 2024 “Be a Road Safety Hero” with the Good Samaritan Law and urged them to assist road accident victims by informing the police and by calling 108.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, R. Das spoke at length on road safety measures even as he called upon the gathering to co-operate with the concerned authorities by adhering to the several traffic rules available in order to avoid accidents.
